How values are shown
Every figure, name, date, count and label on a data page is read from a record. Integers are printed as plain digits as stored; a decimal value is printed as stored, with a thousands separator in its integer part where it has one; a food page's “Published by USDA” line prints the record's publication date exactly as the record stores it (4/1/2019), and the same date in the facts table is written with the month's name, digits unchanged; a value the record leaves empty prints “not available”. Nothing is estimated, merged or filled in.
